A Commitment to Community
As the parent of five kids in the district, a proud graduate of Mesa Public Schools, and a small business owner with my husband, I am deeply invested in all facets of Mesa. I’m here for the long haul, and I don’t quit when things get tough. I am a strong communicator who is passionate about public education, and I’m not afraid to speak up and speak out in support of the needs of our schools.
It’s not enough for someone to say they will be a voice for students, parents, teachers, staff, and community. They need to show up and do the work. I’ve worked in the classrooms, cheered at the activities, and served as part of the organizations that make MPS what it is. I know the work involved. I constantly invest in the district by helping on campuses and talking with people who care about Mesa Public Schools and public education. I do this so I can better understand the community and meet the strengths and needs of all our students. As your elected school board member, I will continue to tirelessly advocate for our schools and for an atmosphere of respect and excellence.
One of my greatest strengths is a fervent yet realistic optimism. I am hopeful about the future of Mesa Public Schools and dedicated to working alongside our incredible staff and community to keep Mesa a wonderful place to live and learn. I am a common-sense candidate who cares about our city and wants to help every student succeed. If elected, I will continue to collaborate with parents, teachers, staff and students as we tackle head-on the tough issues our schools face today.
Thank you for being here and for caring about education! You can learn more about me and my family below.
About Me
Raised in Mesa, Lacy Chaffee and her husband Lafe are proud graduates of Mesa Public Schools and the parents of five children in the district. Because of their great experiences in Mesa schools, Lafe and Lacy decided to raise their children in Mesa and are invested in building up the community here.
Lacy is an experienced community leader. For the past 10 years, Lacy has served on various committees and councils in schools, including School Improvement Advisory Councils, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Pay for Performance, PTO and Mesa Parent Council. She currently serves on the board of the i.d.e.a. Museum Foundation, which helps provide access to hands-on literacy and creative experiences for children in the East Valley. In 2021, Lacy helped organize a community book drive for Mesa students and librarians.
As small business owners, the Chaffees have supported Mesa schools through school carnivals, athletic booster teams, teacher appreciation, PTO events, and more. Lacy and Lafe both volunteer as Art Masterpiece guides, where they help teach understanding and appreciation of classic works of art to Mesa Public Schools students.
Lacy wants to build on the strong legacy of Mesa Public Schools and help Mesa continue to be a great place to live and raise a family.
